A bit about me...
- mbolism red
- Detroit, NYC, The Poconos, Pennsylvania, United States
- Detroit Ex-Pat now happily residing on a mountain near Marshall's Creek & Resica Falls in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. The best part is living in the 'country' but having NYC only a 90 min. bus ride away! We relocated due for job reasons, but since our new house is kind of a "blank slate" we decided to make it a green/eco-friendly/as sustainable as possible home. I can't wait to share my exploits. My hope is that someone out there learns something and makes changes of their own. I think once you see what I'm doing and have done, you'll see anyone can do anything they want to, as long as they have the true desire and motivation to change for the better.

Re-Launch Countdown!

Well, I have to admit, the move out east has really thrown me for a loop. I was hoping to pick up right where I left off with Hair of the Dog when I moved away from Detroit and to Pennsylvania last October, but it wasn't as easy as I thought it'd be.
First off, it took us almost five months to get internet. (we had no tv/cable that whole time either! yikes) Not only did that leave me utterly disconnected with the outside world, but I couldn't do any internet updates on my websites or store, or even this blog, so first off, let me apologize for that! I put so much work into my business, it was tough to be unable to access it daily like I did before I moved.
A couple other issues threw monkey wrenches in my well-laid plan of re-starting the business on the east coast as well:
I got a job in "town" and that took me away from the house and back out into the real world. I found it difficult to work, get a new house together/unpack and take care of 11 dogs with my partner in crime (fiance) gone 14 hours a day Monday through Friday. It was quite a challenge, and I have to admit, I still haven't unpacked everything and we're nearing our one year anniversary of the move!
Most of my crafting supplies were mixed up in boxes and it was a complete disaster.
As some of you know, I attended the Louisville Pet Expo at the end of Sept. 2008 and what most didn't know is that I literally got home from there, had 2 days to get ready to move and head out to Pennsylvania for good. It was crazy! I had all my supplies and things from the Louisville still in my truck and basically they just stayed there and went straight to the Poconos a few days later. I never had a chance to unpack and re-organize everything. It was quite the mess when I finally found the time to weed through it all here.
My next hurdle was to try to set up a work space in the new house. I admit it, it stil isn't totally set up. I had such a good set up back in Michigan, but everything here is different. I have a way bigger house now, but a way smaller work room since I've chosen to work in our small guest bedroom upstairs. My work space is still a work in progress, but I hope to really make it "home" very soon. I've found a new desk, bookcase and table. Now I just have to find the time and money to go get it! Thank goodness for Ikea.
I don't want to go on and on about all the incidentals of my life since I've moved, but suffice to say, the creative juices have been brewing for awhile now and I'm really to bottle it, throw a label on, pop the cork and make a toast!
I'm "officially" relaunching Hair of the Dog (not just Detroit!) on October 1st.
Stay tuned for lots of exciting stuff: a newsletter, giveaways, lots of fun stuff & doggie tips, beaucoup de Halloween & Holiday designs and tons of one of a kind creations. Be sure to sign up on the fan page on Facebook too, I'll be doing giveaways there as well. I'm also expanding to have a store on Artfire as well as on Etsy. I still like Etsy and will always have my store there, but I want to use Artfire to showcase some really unique things, just to see how it goes.
I'm super excited about all the new things I'll have going on soon, hope you are too! I'll be updating again soon, so stop by my facebook to see what's happening in our crazy doggie world. You can find links to both my facebook pages (my personal one and fan page) here on the blog.
Oh, and find me on twitter.com at http://www.twitter.com/mbolism and Aurora and Voodoo have a twitter as well! http://www.twitter.com/crazylittledogs
Stay tuned for lots of fun and thanks for reading my blog. Come back soon!
